Understanding and Using Twitter To Your Business Advantage
You may have read or heard about the usage of Twitter lately, and how it can help you network your business. Knowing that an online tool can assist your business marketing sounds sweet, but how can YOU utilize it?
For those who do not know consider Twitter as a mini blog. You can publish short, quick messages in one single comment (less than 140 characters). Twitter has the ability to be used easily on IM, cell phones and online through a website. It can be used a public or private publishing tool. In other terms, you can use it to communicate to a community, your employees, or even reach out to new clients!
Use Twitter for your professional life:
- Establish your brand - Build up your image on this social network for communication. Other users will find well established profiles will be worth following (Following someone on Twitter means getting their updates in your personal time line).
- Networking - It’s good to find a community of like-minded people who share or are in the same industry as you. You will benefit from linking relationships for things like recommendations and testimonials.
- Manage your business - You can connect with your employees or co-workers. Advise and direct delegations to your team. Get updates when people are out on the field. Remember you can set your account to private and only communicate to whomever is in your group.
- Find potential employees, or contractors - Yes, use this as a simple means to hire others to come on board or if you have certain projects that no one else in your business can do (ex: web designers, lawyers, etc.).
- Keep up with your industry news - It’s easy to quickly cipher through news articles from headlines that relate to your business. Most likely you will run across an interesting story or information tip. Lots of big name media brands use Twitter. Just follow them.
- Send your clients/customers alerts - It is a feed. You can use your account specifically to send out notifications of special deals and promotions. Provide updates to one-on-one clients. Remember, most users are getting messages sent straight to their phone!
- Find potential prospects - You can use Twitter to search through the mass messages. Find others who are looking for your services. We search for things like, “Looking for Web Designer in Charleston”. Other examples are, “What are some good restaurants in the Charleston area,” and “Searching for a home in Charleston, SC”. Just base it out of your industry. A lot of users will ask for services in a form of a question. You will need to be like your potential client/customer, and think how and what ways you would search for your service.
For a business, using Twitter is a great way to track opinions of your products and promote your brand to attract your traffic market.
