Does Your Website Look and Function Correct In ALL Browsers
Every business or individual that has their own website should take a moment and figure if their viewers see what you see, or can use certain features like you can. Cross-browser & multi-browser compatibility are the reference terms. It could cost you your site’s traffic. Less traffic, less profits!
What is cross-browser compatibility? What is multi-browser compatibility? Basically, in simple terms, is the website’s functionality, user experience and visual appearance remains intact across multiple browsers. Browser incompatibility can have a negative effect on your business or individual website. Users that use the same browser as you will most likely see the same thing as you. Users with a different browser may see something completely different, and it may not look correct! Your website reflects from your services you provide. Ponder for a moment, what happens when you go to the site and it doesn’t appear to look correct or doesn’t function right? Usually, a user would click out of that website and move on to the next. It can damage your brand and cause you to lose business. Here is a display of recent statistics of users preferences from w3schools.com:

For designers and developers it is good to see that Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) is losing its preference. For us, it could be a nightmare to make sure a site is compatibile with IE6. It can take certain techniques and measures to make sure to have everything look proper for viewers in this browser. It goes the same for Firefox and Safari. Even now Chrome, as it is a new contender.
Here is an example of improper compatibility for a regional accounting and consulting firm in South Carolina:
In IE7

Now in IE6

Even the littlest things of a website can be effected. Certain colors, sizes and visual appeal may look different from browser to browser. For example the South Carolina Women’s Business Center:
In IE6
In IE7

In IE8
In Firefox
